The perfect first date
So about a week ago I joined OkCupid. I joined because I noticed that a lot of my friends were on it and it didn’t seem too creepy compared to other online dating options. I was browsing through the site when I came across a familiar picture. It was the picture of a guy who had friended me on Facebook a few weeks before.
This guy, let’s call him Reese, well he friended me on Facebook and we had a lot of mutual friends. Since I couldn’t remember if we had met before I accepted the request. We had talked once on Facebook chat and I thought he was pretty cute. So naturally when I saw his picture on OkCupid I decided to send him a message.
We started talking on OkCupid, and he would IM me on Facebook. We took all of each others OkCupid questions and we seemed to be a good match so he gave me his phone number and we started texting.
We decided to meet for coffee last night after I got off work around 9. I guess I didn’t hesitate to meet up with him the same way I normally would with someone I met on an online dating site because we were friends on Facebook and I knew that we knew a lot of the same people.
So when I walked into Starbucks to meet him he was sitting right by the front door. He got up to give me a hug and man he was tall. I guess I never took notice of that on his OkCupid profile (it’s not something I really care about) but he’s 6’3” and I’m 5’4” so I was on my tippy toes just to hug him.
We walked over to the line to get coffee (he paid) and then we sat down. We talked for a long time. It turns out he actually knew my ex fiance (not very well but he had met him a few times) and the number of friends we had in common just kept growing the more we talked. It was the kind of first date where you never stop talking and there is never an awkward silence. Towards the end I noticed that we had started holding hands across the table. He was cute and sweet and I was really enjoying myself. We realized how late it was when they started to close down the Starbucks. It was midnight.
I gave him a ride home, so he wouldn’t have to walk in the cold. When we got to his apartment building he kissed me. It was a great kiss.
